Intimate Lake House Micro-Wedding in Central Pennsylvania
I met Lily and Andrew for the first time, in person, on the day of their wedding. Everything was set to take place at a lake house her family had built in the 1950’s surrounded by the mountains in Blossburg, PA. The day was intimate and relaxed as they celebrated with just their closest family and shared a meal that was lovingly prepared by them. I’ve thought about their celebration a lot over the last few months, the way they brought so much love and intention to each aspect of it and how so many of their family members brought their skills to the table to create something so memorable and meaningful.
They got married on the dock overlooking the lake in the afternoon with their family seated on the lawn while Violet, Lily’s sister performed the ceremony. They hugged each family member and shared a moment together following the ceremony before enjoying the assorted cocktail hour food handcrafted just that day. Lily and Andrew shared in that celebration and fellowship with their family before we dove into some family photos and then explored the property for some photos of the two of them.
Her grandfather prepared a homemade focaccia and tenderloin as her mother and sister prepared sides and got everything plated for dinner. Lily and Andrew carried each plate out from the kitchen to the porch for their family members. The hand selected wines to accompany dinner and the curated charcuterie laid out at cocktail hour as they soaked in the summer sun and played cornhole beside the lake. Her mother decorating the homemade cake with fresh cut flowers that would be enjoyed alongside fresh espresso her dad brewed to cap off the evening together.
It was such a beautiful and unrushed day enjoying each other's company and a shared meal together. The more I think back on this day the more I want to take it into every wedding I have the honor of capturing because ultimately your wedding should be about celebrating your love, with the people you love and being present throughout that experience. Cheers to more unrushed days and more presence in your wedding era.
