A fall engagement in the mountains of central, pa

Places hold so much meaning and memory. The way they look, smell, feel, sound can be a reminder of home, of a loved ones warm embrace, or a cherished moment you think of frequently. I talk of such places often, of the intent and anticipation being there brings to the moments you want preserved for a lifetime. How much it can bring an extra layer of depth and emotion to the moments we capture. I wholeheartedly believe in the value of such places and encourage my couples towards them whenever possible so when Bailey reached out to me about shooting her engagement photos in a place that was a home away from home, my heart seemed to skip a beat.

Bailey, Anthony, and I adventured through the cold and wind to the overlook on Anthony’s family property around Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. We’d barely made it to the summit before the rain bested us and we had to retreat into the comfort of the side by sides to wait out the storm. Sitting hip to hip they began to tell me what the cabin and the property meant to them and how it was the lifeblood of their story together. They spent most weekends, for years, driving from New Jersey to the mountains of Central Pennsylvania to go to the Cabin to be with each other, and to be with family.

It was where it all seemed to begin, to grow and it only felt right to document the start of their new chapter celebrating their engagement together there. Throughout our time together I got to hear their history and the history of the cabin through the years, what it mean to Anthony’s family and to them as a couple. I heard of the late nights spent adventuring in the woods, the sunrises spent at the overlook and countless moments in between. These moments, these memories and these places all comprise a piece of who we are, a part worthy of celebration and documentation which is why they knew they had to do their engagement photos there.

It’s such an honor to be transported into people’s worlds in this way, to see life as they do, and to help them preserve it for years to come. I will never tire of documenting life in this way, of hearing histories, family stories, traditions, jokes and truly fellowshipping with those in front of my lens. It all begins with connection, connection to your love, connection to a place, connection to my art and approach, above all connection to your own little slice of history. I want to know those stories, hear those jokes, see those little quirks and capture it all to create your own personalized time capsule into this era of your life. I want to help transport you back to when you were newly engaged, planning your wedding, celebrating getting married with those you hold dearest around you and whatever milestones life continues to bring your way.
