A Dreamy Summer Engagement in Central Park ending in an Unforgettable Evening at Top of the Rock

Summer in New York City is nothing short of magical, and when it comes to romantic settings, few places rival the charm of Central Park. Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing an engagement that perfectly embodied the essence of New York City in peak summer, beginning with a stroll through Bethesda Terrace and ending with a breathtaking view from Top of the Rock during blue hour.

Bethesda Terrace and Fountain exude such an air of timeless romance with its stunning architecture and the way the light glistens through the fountain's water when you catch it at that perfect time of day. We danced in front of the arches, ran through the park and lingered watching the boaters go by from Bow Bridge as the air began to cool a bit and the sun dipped lower in the sky.

New York City always seems alive with possibilities but chatting with Melissa and Tyler as we made our way to Fifth Avenue it became apparent what the city meant to them. They learned the city together, and their relationship flourished alongside everything New York had to offer. We spent time chatting about their wedding which will take place at DiSalvo’s in Williamsport, what they most wanted the day to feel and be like, how planning was going and all the things happening in their life at the time as we chased the evening light together.

We popped champagne, explored the beauty and intrigue of our surroundings on Fifth Avenue and then made our way to Top of the Rock. As the elevator brought us up the skyscraper we chatted excitedly about the view and how this was the best overlook in the city. As we made our way out onto the observation deck we took in the lights of the city and made our way around the deck for a view of the Empire State Building. It was the perfect way to end our time together as we looked out across the city aglow with light and we said our goodbyes with promises of when they would get to relive their engagement experience.

I can’t help but be grateful for the connection and relationships I have the opportunity to build with my couples before their wedding. I truly believe it to be such a foundational piece to how I capture their story and approach the moments that matter most to them throughout their experience. I take on a limited number of weddings each year so I can serve my couples fully in this way and I am so excited for everything the future holds in capturing more love stories like Melissa and Tyler’s wherever your love calls home.
